VACCINES ARE A GOOD CONVERSATION TO HAVE WITH THE DOCTOR.  SEVERAL FACTORS ARE CONSIDERED IN “DOES MY DOG OR CAT NEED VACCINES?”

 

 

RABIES – ALL DOGS NEED THIS VACCINE AT SOME TIME IN THEIR LIFE, IT IS CONSIDERED A CORE VACCINE. RABIES IS A LIFE THREATENING VIRAL INFECTION OF MAMMALS.  ALL OF US CAN DIE FROM RABIES SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO PROTECT OUR PETS AND HUMANS

 

DAPP – DISTEMPER, ADENOVIRUS, PARAINFLUENZA AND PARVOVIRUS.  THIS COMBINATION VACCINE IS CONSIDERED A CORE VACCINE THAT ALL DOGS SHOULD RECEIVE

 

CORONAVIRUS – (NOT COVID) , OPTIONAL VACCINE FOR A VIRUS THAT CAUSES VOMITING AND DIARRHEA

 

BORDETELLA BRONCHISEPTICA – VACCINE AGAINST BACTERIA, FREQUENTLY KNOWN AS KENNEL COUGH – OPTIONAL VACCINE

 

CANINE INFLUENZA – H2N2 FLU IN DOGS – OPTIONAL VACCINE AGAINST VIRAL FLU.

 

RATTLESNAKE VACCINE – OPTIONAL VACCINE THAT SENSITIZES THE BODY TO BREAK DOWN RATTLESNAKE VENOM BETTER, MAYBE FASTER, MAYBE REQUIRING LESS VIALS OF ANTIVENOM AND MAYBE GIVING A PET A BETTER CHANCE OF SURVIVING A RATTLESNAKE ENVENOMATION. 

 

LYME VACCINE (BORRELIA BURDORFERI) – VACCINE AGAINST BACTERIA THAT CAUSES LYME DISEASE – OPTIONAL VACCINE

 

LEPTOSPIROSIS – VACCINE AGAINST SEVERAL LEPTOSPIRA SPECIES THAT CAUSE LEPTOSPIROSIS. OPTIONAL VACCINE

FVRCP/ RCP – (FELINE VIRAL RHIONTRACHEITIS, CALICIVIRUS AND PANLEUKOPENIA) ALL RESPIRATORY VIRUSES AND THIS VACCINE IS CONSIDERED A CORE VACCINE

 

CHLAMYDOPHYLA VACCINE – VACCINE AGAINST A BACTERIA COMMONLY ASSOCITED WITH RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS THIS VACCINE IS FREQUENTLY INCLUDED IN THE “FVRCP” BUT IS NOT CORE

 

FELV – VACCINE AGAINST FELINE LEUKEMIA , A VIRUS SPREAD FROM CAT TO CAT DIRECT CONTACT.  OUTDOOR CATS , BREEDING CATS OR CATS LIVING WITH AN FELV + CAT SHOULD BE VACCINATED. CONSIDERED CORE FOR KITTENS

 

FIV – FELINE IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS VACCINE -  NOT A GREAT VACCINE AND IF VACCINATED WILL CAUSE A CAT TO TEST + ON AN ANTIBODY TEST.  OPTIONAL VACCINE

 

BORDETELLA – OPTIONAL VACCINE AGAINST BACTERIA BORDETELLA BRONCHISEPTICA.

 

FIP – FELINE INFECTIOUS PERITONITIS- VACCINE AGAINST THE MUTATED CORONA VIRUS THAT CAUSES FIP.  THIS VACCINE IS GENERALLY NOT RECOMMENDED
